Inori, the acclaimed author behind the popular yuri series I'm in Love with the Villainess, has announced a new original light novel titled Poison for the Moon, Medicine for the Night—An Assassin Who Longs for Death and a Vampire Marked for Death. The novel, penned by Inori with illustrations by Komizuki, is the first original light novel series from German publisher Dokico's Yurico project. The first volume is slated for a digital release worldwide in December.

The story centers on Niko, an apothecary and assassin who lives in a world sealed in night. Her life takes a dramatic turn when she encounters Lamica Alucard, a vampire princess who falls from the sky and attacks Niko. Soon after, Niko receives an order to assassinate Lamica, setting the stage for a tale described as "sweet as poison, warm as medicine."

Dokico also unveiled a promotional video for the light novel, offering a first look at the character designs. The novel will be released simultaneously in German, Japanese, and English. Special Limited and Supporter editions featuring exclusive illustrations by Komizuki will also be available for the German edition. Additionally, the novel will include illustrations from guest artists Fly and Aroa.

Inori's I'm in Love with the Villainess series began as a web novel in 2018 and was later published in print, receiving a manga adaptation and a TV anime that aired in Fall 2023. The author has also penned a sequel novel, I'm in Love with the Villainess: Come on and Notice Me Already!, and a spin-off titled Heimin no Kuse ni Namaikina!.
